One more week to Chinese New Year

After one week of tests I finally can take a breather. Not. Sigh… Why is it that NOT always appears after my sentences?

Manga intervention

Proper lessons are going to take place on Monday and I am currently having what some people would call a student’s nightmare. I have yet to complete 8 reading logs, 3 maths assignments, WikiTP (Er… Some great idea from the GP department of plagarising coming up with stuff which looks like wikipedia but is only accessible to our school students, which I feel have no point as no one will probably look at it once its completed), our physics keep in touch online assignment (Personally, I feel that it makes quite a good practise if not for the cASe-SeNSitiVe problem)

Complain, complain, complain. That is one thing I am probably good at. Finding faults in everything and everyone except for myself. Anyway going on…

I thought that I should try breaking up my manga into chunks rather than compile them into one picture

I probably flunked my mathematics test by the way. (For the few readers who have been following up with my rants all these while I sincerely thank you for your time) I had not studied as usual and the topics which came out were Applications of Integration (I have forgotten how to differentiate lnx how can I integrate?) Vectors (Although it was only scalar product and vector product and being 3 Dimensional) and Inequalities (We were supposed to self-study this topic, oh great) So yeah. Mathematics is down and out.

Should I give up on this series?

A small intermission, maybe. Nah, forget it. Lets just drop the entire topic about studies and head on to manga rant.

I have been reading Tsubasa since around Secondary one, which is, or rather was, 5 years ago. At that time, when I first picked up this series, I found it to be likeable. At that point in time, I was still immature and impressionable, and I only read Singapore published manga.

During those unfortunate times, manga like Tsubasa and Negima were all I had but that was the past. (Though I still like Negima very much now although the subject of interest has changed over the years =)) Fortunately, I had converted two years ago when I started reading Taiwan published manga. It sounds really stupid but I never knew that there were so many manga offered and I was so narrow minded to insist on sticking to Singapore publication.

Since there is only one publication which I know of in Singapore, I don’t blame them for not translating everything. At least Taiwan have Kadokawa, Tongli, YOUTH, SPP, (even Yuri Publication =)) in any case, more than one publication and so I have been getting most of my manga from Taiwan.

90% of the manga in this post are from Taiwan publications

I always sidetrack halfway… Anyway, I have gotten rather bored of Tsubasa but it is against my principles to drop a series UNLESS it is dam boring to me. (Eg Ouran High School. I loved the anime but the manga is kind of draggy) Tsubasa is somewhere along that line so perhaps this book will decide its fate.

Special A ^^

Some people say it loses to Ouran but in my opinion, the SA manga wins Ouran any day. Oh, in case anyone out there might be wondering… I am currently collecting over 50 series of manga. The genre stretches from Fantasy and Magic (NEGIMA) to Guro (High school of the Dead by the way… I don’t really like too much gore), from Shoujo (As in Special A) to Mature (TEAM MEDICAL DRAGON FTW), but my absolute favourite genre, other than Negima (I know that Negima is not a genre but I don’t want any other manga to overtake it T___T) is GenderBender.

It appears in Shoujo manga (Some girl due to some stupid reason is sent to an all-boys school and her roommate or neighbour would find out that she is a girl etc these sort of manga are a little cliche. But I do not hate it. I came from an all-boys school but that did not happen to me though T___T)

But there are also other manga like Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru, Pretty Face, Gacha Gacha Secret and perhaps others which I have forgotten, heightened my interest towards this theme. (Lol, I guess the first manga is a twist to the other Shoujo mangas as it is the complete opposite. Instead of a girl going to an all-boys school, it is a boy going to an all-girls school and getting found out. I wonder why his voice does not break)

GENDER BENDER =D

Or perhaps mere crossdressing? Gacha Gacha Secret would be one of my favourite GenderBender manga because of one simple reason. When the guy transforms, he would change completely into a girl and not look like or pretends to be one. There is a difference between GenderBender and Crossdressing.

People who watch anime or are following this season’s anime should know the above manga. When I first saw it, I thought that the artwork was cute but I did not buy it due to some ominous reason (Gut feeling) but after it started airing and I saw it classified as GenderBender woooo INSTANT BUY! I have not watched the anime yet but I have read the first four chapters online so I know what to expect.

I love spoilers but I know that most people out there dislike spoilers so I shall not spill the beans in case anyone has not watched it yet. That said, anyone who can read Chinese or at least know basic Kanji would be able to get the gist of the story.

The girl looks like a guy

I heard that the manga is good. Which also means that book 1-3 are still under my “Have not read yet but am going to, in due time” list. In any case, I hope that I am the only person who thinks that the girl looks like a guy.

Pen… BENISU woops a slip of the tongue

I have forgotten whether this anime was shown last year or the year before. Anyway yeah, I just bought it since I find the anime ok. I only remember the pseudo-loli though.

Stupid sticker

Just a question here. Why is it that they have to edit the ToLoveRu manga even after pasting the sticker? And out of the 50+ series of manga which I collect, even among those which I have completed, ToLoveRu is the first manga which I encountered which requires editting. Instead of wasting time censoring and blanking out the nipah~ (=D) they can just paste the M-18 sticker which they are so fond of. Although I would probably slip pass it, especially since I am 18 this year.

That brings me to another question. Out of all the manga which have M-18 stickers on them, about 95% of them are about as ecchi or guro as normal manga which do not have the stickers on. Other than manga like Tenjo Tenge, which I agree would be better off with the sticker, most of the other mangas do not deserve it at all. Its like giving people false hope. =X

Double Trouble

In case there is anyone out there who are dense enough not to notice… This manga is also ToLoveRu execpt that it is in Japanese. I believe no one would miss this point.

There are two very very simple reasons to why I have gotten this ToLoveRu manga. Firstly, what did I say about GenderBender? If I remember correctly, this would be the book in which Rito turns into a girl (Well, duh, its so obvious. Temporary though T___T) Secondly, I want to *ahem* clarify *ahem* whether the manga is editted as they claim in the Taiwan publications.

Oh wait, there is a third reason. It is about the same price as Negima (Japanese) which is SGD$9.90 and I sort of can afford it so I just went ahead and bought it.

Fourth reason, if it exists, would be that I am trying to improve my Japanese. Having read the latest post from RIUVA which made my day, I realized (actually quite long ago) that trying to translate Japanese into another language without any basic knowledge is suicide.

If there is any bored person out there who has nothing better to do or is interested in internet dorama, please feel free to click on the link which should be located somewhere on the right>>> or go google riuva. The post title should start with “Otaku are Sensitive People” but I am not going to carry on just in case I get a Trackback for this.

People in my school forum have claimed that I have been flaming them. Perhaps I should send them this link and a few others to teach them the true meaning of flaming. (The post itself is not really flaming, whats more important are the comments)

I guess thats all for today. Currently, I have a word count of 1500+ words and these would have been great if I was typing for my reading log instead. 1500 words would mean that I have written about 5 reading logs. Maybe I should suggest to the GP department to change the reading logs into blogs and at the very least, the teachers would not have to read the same reading log about 500 times. (x6 reading logs = 3,000 times) Good Luck Have Fun.
