English, one of the most feared languages?

This was from the Sunday Times article last week

I had chanced upon this article and just took a picture. Never did I expect that I would find a book today, which made me decide to write something about this topic. In any case, its criticism rant time.

The errors are so plentiful that its no longer funny

Just in case anyone does not know what did Mrs Stevenson reply, its goes like this. “I can see many inconveniences as well as difficulties.” I don’t see how much impact an article as such would do to a person’s standard of English but what if people found it funny and starts using it? I use bad English, short forms and even add past tense to words which are still in the present but I keep a consistent effort to maintain my standard of English.

However, I know of people who became so used to shortforms and poor grammar that they actually write it in their essays or worst, speak in bad English or Singlish. (The term given to people who speak in Singaporean English as it is made up of different languages and have bits of Malay and Chinese and even dialect inside) Of course, I am not saying that my English is perfect or of a higher level but people read the papers just like how my readers read my blog. (Though there is a clear distinction between the number of views :<)

If I were to start using short forms or invent my own version of the English language, people who find it difficult to read might leave and never return. (I don’t know why I care so much about views but I guess its all in the numbers =D)

It will not destroy the language but turn it into a new one

Just like how energy cannot be created or destroyed, English will not be destroyed but converted into a new language (e.g Singapore -> Singlish, China -> Chinish, Britain -> British)

Cactuar loves balloons but balloons do not love Cactuar T__T

Anyway, if any of you remember, I mentioned something about finding a book today right? I recommend that everyone should read it. Its title is “Eats, Shites & Leaves” by A.PARODY. It is a really interesting book about how English can be turned into crap with wrong usage and I was laughing the whole time reading it. (The people besides me kept staring at me because I was in the library =O)

Before I end off, if any of you watched TRANSFORMERS, you would know that the leader of the Autobots is called Optimus Prime right? (I only watched the movie two weeks ago) If you know the meaning then good for you, if not, head on down to your nearest library or bookstore and get the book ASAP!
